Whats going on with the forum?
Hi there,
Has there been some kind of upgrade to the forum software? Suddenly all the table allignment is out!It was fine this afternoon.
Normal viewing software: Opera... Not aligned correctly.
Backup software: Google Chrome... Not aligned correctly.
Fallback software IE8... Looks Ok.
Any clues?

Here is an example of what I am seeing in both Opera and Chrome...
Header/footer of each section seems to be damaged. Is it just me?

Yeah, me too. Here is what I checked. Firefox 3.0.8 and Chrome 2 are messed up. IE 7 is okay.

Thanks for the confirmation. Glad it is not just me then (I think!).

Re: Whats going on with the forum?
I have installed a brand new version of the standard ProSilver theme for BB3 as part of the latest upgrade - and this is the result. The theme (though issued as a new version) seems to be faulty.
I have enabled users to switch to SubSilver, which is a slightly more compact theme (takes a bit of getting used to the changes, but allows you to mess around with posts a bit more easily - like adding colour from a built-in picker and providing a menu of smilies.
You need to go to the User Control panel, and change your theme to SubSilver, to tidy up the pages.
I can download and add some alternative themes, generally I liked the standard one best. But if I do, these themes will then cease to work with the next upgrade - phpBB have issued a notice warning about this in advance.
Sorry for the mess, but it's not my error or the server or the database or anything really important - it is just a fault with the standard stylesheet theme for phpBB.

Re: Whats going on with the forum?
Try switching to the new modified theme 'twilightBB' which I have just installed along with a couple of extra choices to give you plenty of scope for customizing your display!
This one uses dark background, grey lettering (comfortable) and I've created a new Minolta-typefaces, Alpha-logo blue and cinnabar forum logo for it.
Photographs of course look great against this Lightroom-style charcoal theme.
When the next phpBB version comes along, I'll either have to hope the theme can be modified, or find some more. The problem is that the next version uses a new generation of CAPTCHA to prevent spammers registering, and this is what will be incompatible with the existing code for themes. We have had increasing problems with spammers and I welcome any revisions to make that more foolproof.

Thanks. As others observe, changing themes does fix it. I will have a play with the alternatives and see which I like best.David Kilpatrick wrote:Try switching to the new modified theme 'twilightBB' which I have just installed along with a couple of extra choices to give you plenty of scope for customizing your display!

Out of curiosity, what new skins have everyone chosen? Are there any immediate advantages or disadvantages over the old? I'm using "subsilver2" and love it--there's a slew of handy links on every page whether you're at the board index or replying to a PM; "View unanswered posts | View active topics" and "View new posts | View your posts."

Re: Whats going on with the forum?
TwilightBB for me, although I had to flip the avatar as it appears on the left now and the original was looking out of the forum (which is something I have been doing recently )KevinBarrett wrote:Out of curiosity, what new skins have everyone chosen?
